when i was five years old, this picture was taken not far from where i lived. over the years, i have pondered that snows were never as big as my memories. perhaps it was just because i was short. and small. but it did snow that much back in 1960. i went to grade school well into june. dad would fill the back of the tr3 with firewood and we would go out into the streets doing donuts. i remember missing the entire thirtyone january school days. the golf course along kimberly became the biggest sledding party... way into the night! bonfires at the top of sixteen. mister bill's bozo the clown, could be found smoking his pipe at the old studio on macon avenue. sledders could drag their flexible flyers up at the battle house, and thaw out while sipping hot chocolate. recent days have me day-dreaming of epic snows. oh yea, there was that nineties snow when we skied in twenty+ inches up the middle of kimberly all the way to lakeview park in that wild blizzard . i am waiting for snow to cover the round pickup truck.
